What is Technical Support?

Technical support is the process used to help users with technical problems. Technical support may be provided by a technical support organization, by a technical support department within a company, or by an individual. Technical support is not only limited to technical issues, but can also include assistance with the use of software, hardware and networks. Technical support is often divided into two different categories: understanding and resolution. Understanding means understanding the user's problem and solution means finding a solution to the problem. Technical support can also include troubleshooting, which is the process of finding the cause of a problem. Technical support is an important part of a company's customer service. Technical support organizations and technical support departments within companies often have a team of support engineers who are trained to help users with technical problems.
