What is Solaris Zones?
Solaris Zones is a virtualization technology used within the Solaris operating system. With Solaris Zones, users can isolate different applications and processes in separate virtual environments, known as Zones. Each Zone has its own set of resources and can run independently of other Zones on the same system. By using Solaris Zones, users can maximize the utilization of hardware resources by running multiple applications on a single machine. This makes it possible to separate and secure different applications while sharing the same operating system core. There are several different virtualization solutions on the market, including VMware, Docker and Xen. Each of these technologies has its own advantages and uses, but Solaris Zones is unique in its ability to isolate and manage resources at the system level.
