What is SLES?
SLES, or Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate, is a chemical compound used in many different industries, including cosmetics, cleaning agents, and industrial processes. SLES is a common ingredient in shampoo, soap, and toothpaste because of its ability to create foam and clean effectively. Just like SLES, there are other chemicals used in similar products. Examples of these are Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS). These chemicals have similar properties to SLES and are often used in combination or as substitutes for each other depending on the desired effect. It is important to be aware of the different chemicals used in products that we use daily and how they can affect both our health and the environment . By being aware of the ingredients in the products we use, we can make more informed choices for our health and for the environment.
