What is Korean?
Korean is a language spoken mainly in South Korea and North Korea. There are also Korean-speaking communities in China, Japan, the United States, and other countries around the world. Korean written language is written using a unique alphabet called Hangul, which was created by King Sejong in 1443. Hangul consists of 24 letters and is relatively easy to learn compared to other languages. Korean is a tonal language, which means that the tone and stress of the words play an important role in understanding the meaning of a sentence. There are two dialects of Korean, the northern and the southern dialect. The northern dialect is spoken mainly in North Korea while the southern dialect is spoken in South Korea. Korean is a language with a rich cultural history and it is used not only for communication but also in literature, music and film. Korean pop music, also known as K-pop, has become increasingly popular internationally and has contributed to the spread of the Korean language and culture globally.
