What is GC-FID?
GC-FID stands for Gas Chromatography with Flame Ionization Detection and is an analysis method used in chemical analysis. The method is commonly used in research and industry to separate and quantify various chemical substances in a mixture. In GC-FID, a gas-liquid chromatograph is used to separate the various compounds in a sample mixture. The compounds are then detected using a flame ionization detector (FID). The FID is a widely used detector in gas liquid chromatography due to its high sensitivity and stability. There are several other detectors that can also be used in gas liquid chromatography, such as the electron chain ion detector (ECD) and nitrogen and phosphorus compound detectors. Each detector has its own advantages and limitations depending on the type of compounds to be analyzed. GC-FID is a powerful analytical method used in many different industries, including drug development, the food industry and environmental monitoring. The method enables accurate and quantitative analyzes of complex mixtures, which makes it indispensable in many areas of research.
