What is ESET?
ESET is a company that develops and sells antivirus software and other security products. They are headquartered in Bratislava, Slovakia and operate in more than 180 countries. The company was founded by Miroslav Trnka and Peter Paško in 1987 and was then called Elektronické štúdio. They started by developing programs for the Commodore 64 and then for the IBM PC. In 1992, they launched the first antivirus program for PC, NOD, which quickly became very popular. In 1994, the company changed its name to ESET. ESET is known for its highly effective antivirus programs and has been repeatedly named the best in tests by various tests. They have also developed other security products, such as a firewall and a program to protect against malicious programs that try to take control of a computer. Compared to other companies that develop security products, ESET is one of the smaller players on the market. However, they have a very strong position in antivirus software, where they compete with companies such as Symantec (Norton) and McAfee.
