What is DirectX?
DirectX is a collection of APIs used to develop and run multimedia applications, primarily in gaming, on Microsoft platforms. DirectX enables developers to create graphically advanced and realistic games by providing tools to manage graphics, sound and input devices. Programmers can take advantage of DirectX to optimize performance, create advanced visual effects, and create multiplayer features in games. As with Adobe Photoshop, there are other similar programs and tools for developing multimedia applications, such as OpenGL and Vulkan.
