We're now at a pivotal growth stage with over 55 million student exams performed on Exam.net.We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to join a friendly and talented development team to accelerate our product development. We work in a fast-paced environment and are continuously looking to improve, collaborate, and share knowledge with each other. In this role, you will:<ul><li>Work with the team on interesting technical challenges to build new features and improve Exam.net.</li><li>Ensure our platform works well and securely across a wide range of platforms (web browsers, Chromebooks, Apple and Windows devices).</li><li>Give input to the product manager and team lead to make sure projects have the right balance between scope and time.</li><li>Write technical designs to explore a range of implementation options and work with the team to decide on the best path forward.</li><li>Write high quality, well-tested software that reaches an SLA &gt; 99.99%.</li><li>Own the software you write. Along with the rest of the developers, you are responsible for deploying, monitoring, debugging, and supporting the platform.</li><li>Explore new interesting technical solutions and find ways to improve the application architecture, infrastructure, and security.</li><li>Propose and contribute improvements to our developer experience.</li><li>Own projects end-to-end, from solution exploration and implementation to deployment.</li></ul>Some of the tools and technologies we use to build the application are the following. We don't require you to have professional experience in all of these but we expect the willingness to learn and work actively with the team to get up to speed:<ul><li>Laravel (a modern PHP framework)</li><li>Vue.js</li><li>JavaScript/TypeScript</li><li>Microsoft Azure (e.g. Containerized App Services, SQLServer and CDN services).</li><li>Google Cloud Platform (mostly through a few smaller services using Firebase)</li><li>Testing tools like Playwright, Vitest and Pest.</li><li>GitHub</li><li>OpenAI</li><li>CI/CD</li><li>SQL</li><li>Various third-party APIs and SDKs</li></ul>We work hard to maintain a great developer experience and implement up-to-date industry best practices and workflows.<h3>About you</h3><ul><li>We expect you to have 3-5 years of experience as a software developer working in medium to large-sized teams</li><li>You have experience with modern web technologies and integrating third party packages, SDKs and APIs</li><li>You have experience working in all parts of the application stack (frontend, backend, infrastructure)</li><li>You have experience with cloud infrastructure</li><li>You have experience working in and navigating a large code base</li><li>You are technology and stack agnostic -- you are quick and excited to learn new technologies that you have not worked with before.</li><li>You thrive in ambiguous situations and can independently propose solutions, create consensus, and implement them efficiently</li><li>You take ownership over new features and improvements and the responsibility for their success</li><li>You want to work with other skilled developers and can both give and receive insights on development and methodologies.</li><li>You are a self-starter and get things done.
