Your mission:As a Tech Lead at Sleep Cycle, you drive the technical direction within one of our cross-functional teams. You stay hands-on, mentor engineers, and ensure high-quality, scalable solutions.Your key responsibilities:<ul><li>Partner with the Product Manager and Designer to align on priorities, feasibility, and roadmap planning.</li><li>Guide the team through discovery activities, including user interviews, usability testing, and design reviews.</li><li>Lead the development of rapid prototypes and experiments to validate product hypotheses.</li><li>Own and evolve the technical direction and system architecture to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability.</li><li>Set high standards for engineering practices, including testing, monitoring, and incident response.</li><li>Drive initiatives to improve system performance, code quality, and reduce technical debt.</li><li>Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration within the team.</li><li>Represent engineering in cross-functional planning and ensure alignment with long-term product goals. What we are looking for:</li><li>5+ years of hands-on experience in software development, ideally in mobile (iOS/Android) or backend systems, with a track record of leading technical initiatives.</li><li>Proven ability to own and drive technical direction in production environments.</li><li>Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable, maintainable systems.</li><li>Skilled in breaking down complex problems, leading architectural discussions, and making sound technical decisions.</li><li>Demonstrated ownership of deliverables—from idea to production rollout.</li><li>Actively mentors and supports engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.</li><li>Experienced working in cross-functional, product-oriented teams and contributing to planning and roadmap discussions.</li><li>Solid grasp of testing, monitoring, deployment, and operational best practices.</li></ul>Nice to have:<ul><li>Prior experience as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, or in a similar senior engineering role where you led initiatives or teams.</li><li>Background in a mobile-first or consumer product company, especially with cross-functional development cycles.</li><li>Exposure to event-driven architectures, microservices, or other scalable backend patterns.</li><li>Familiarity with data-informed development, including experimentation (e.g. A/B testing), instrumentation, and analytics.</li></ul>Not sure if you meet every requirement?
