<h3>About the Role</h3>We are looking for a backend-focused engineer who values end-to-end technical ownership. While your primary focus will be on the core architecture, APIs, and transaction logic, you aren't afraid to jump into the frontend to ensure your data is integrated into the user experience correctly and efficiently. <h3>What You'll Be Doing</h3><ul><li>Build and Operate Backend Workflows: Own the full lifecycle of queues, workers, orchestrators, and scheduled jobs in a serverless AWS environment.</li><li>Model and Aggregate Data at Scale: You design partitioned PostgreSQL schemas and build efficient rollup systems to handle high-velocity transaction data. You'll tune indexes and queries, manage complex migrations, and ensure real-time data access with strict accuracy and consistency across large-scale datasets.</li><li>Define Infrastructure as Code: You use IaC to manage infrastructure across environments, support versioning and rollback safety, and enable collaboration through consistent patterns (we use SST, which is built on Pulumi).</li><li>Handle production realities: Solve real-world issues like concurrency problems, timeouts, and partial failures in async workflows, while building with observability in mind.</li><li>Write clean, type-safe code: You're ready to adopt TypeScript as your primary language (if it's not already) and use it to build robust, testable, maintainable services, with clear naming and consistent patterns. You value long-term clarity over clever one-off solutions.</li><li>Push the team forward: You unblock others, clean up as you go, and leave things better than you found them. You design with the whole team in mind, prioritizing sustainability over quick fixes.</li></ul><h3>About You</h3><ul><li>Backend-first: Your heart is in the logic, databases, and the architecture, but you have the pragmatic skill set to wire up a frontend that works.</li><li>Hands-on and execution-focused: You like to get things done. You think before you build, but don't overthink.</li><li>Detail-oriented but pragmatic: You care about correctness and edge cases, but also know when it's time to ship and improve later.</li><li>Team-minded: You prioritize consistency and shared patterns over flashy individual solutions. You build systems others can understand, extend, and trust.</li><li>Curious and driven: You ask why things work the way they do, and you're motivated by forward momentum — for yourself, your team, and the product.</li><li>Casino/Web3 Alignment: You have direct experience in the casino and are excited by the unique challenges of building auditable, on-chain transaction systems.</li><li>Startup-ready: You're comfortable with speed, ambiguity, shifting priorities, and constant iteration. <h5>Key Responsibilities (What you will do):</h5><ul><li>Product Strategy &amp; Execution: Partner with the Head of Product to translate the high-level roadmap into concrete quarterly OKRs and actionable technical goals, ensuring alignment across all delivery milestones.</li><li>Backlog &amp; Requirement Ownership: Own and manage the product backlog for the assigned development stream. This includes conducting detailed product discovery activities, writing clear user stories with detailed acceptance criteria, and ensuring the backlog is optimally prioritized to maximize value.</li><li>Stakeholder Bridging: Lead communication across the development process. This involves translating complex needs into detailed technical specifications for engineers and designers, while keeping senior leadership and commercial partners updated on delivery progress and challenges.</li><li>Data-Driven Delivery: Define, monitor, and champion effective KPIs and analytics tracking to measure product performance post-launch. Use data, testing, and continuous user feedback to identify deviations from expected experience and drive iterative product improvements.</li><li>Quality Assurance &amp; Acceptance: Final sign-off of features and products, coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) work to ensure deliverables meet the quality and functional requirements.</li><li>Competitive Edge: Proactively conduct regular competitor analysis and maintain marketplace awareness to identify problems and opportunities that will allow DeGaming to develop features that add value and secure an edge over the competition.</li></ul><h5>Required Skills &amp; Experience:</h5><ul><li>Proven experience (2+ years) as a Product Owner or Product Manager within the iGaming space, demonstrating the ability to execute a strategy defined by product leadership.</li><li>In-depth knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and a strong ability to manage and groom a development backlog.</li><li>Strong user experience sensibilities with the capability to translate complex technical requirements into intuitive, user-centric product designs.</li><li>Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex product status, vision, and strategy to both technical teams and senior commercial stakeholders.</li></ul><h5>Bonus points for</h5><ul><li>Experience working with Web3, Blockchain, or DeFi protocols.</li><li>A strong passion for decentralized technology and the principles of transparency and fairness in gaming.</li><li>Familiarity with crypto wallet integrations and smart contract interactions.</li><li>Experience working with CRM tools such as <a target="_blank" href="http://Customer.io">Customer.io</a> and Smartico</li><li>Experience defining or building AI/ML-empowered products (e.g., personalization engines, CMS enhancements, predictive analytics, or marketing tools).</li></ul><h5>Location</h5>This is a hybrid position based in Stockholm, Sweden, with flexibility for remote work arrangements.
